My day typically starts with a cup of Coffee at around 7:45am. By 8:00am, I would have settled down and switched on my system ready for work.
I start by deactivating all users that are meant to go on leave(Sick, Maternity, Normal,) and also activate those that are coming back from leave. After this, I check my email for any mails that was sent the day before that were not responded to or during the earlier hours of the day(people send requests as early as 5am). After responding to all necessary mails, I start working on the various deliverable`s for the day.
Different requests should start coming in now by now and this will continue up until 2pm which is when i go for lunch. I resume my activities by 2:45pm and continue working up until 5pm.
By 5:30pm, I check for any tasks that needs to be completed on the day after and also set reminders using the calendar options on Microsoft mails. By 6pm, I check if the mails for staff exit has been sent and go about deleting users/suspending users from the various applications if they are meant to be suspended. By 7pm, I shut down my system and join other professionals going back home after a long day work.
The fun thing about my job is that no two days are the same. It is also fast paced as you need to be on top of your game to ensure that cases don`t expire and that the service level agreement is been met. It can be tiring sometimes guiding users on the phone and also via mails on how to do certain stuff especially when they are finding it hard to do but that is what the job entails and by doing this, I have learnt some soft skills such as patience and effective communication. The highlight of my day should be when i hear the "Thank you, I am fine" comment.
It gives me joy to know that i am part of a team that helps close to 10,000 staff solve their issues on a daily basis.
