UNITED NATIONS AGENCY COMMENDS, SUPPORTS TB JOSHUA’S JOB CREATION INITIATIVE

Click for Full Image SizeOn Sunday 7th July 2013, Nigerian Prophet T.B. Joshua received commendation from the International Labour Organisation (ILO), a United Nations specialised agency, praising his recent initiative targeting job creation for unemployed graduates and skills development.

Ms. Sinanzeni Chuma-Mkandawire, the Director of the ILO Country Office for Nigeria, Gambia, Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone, spoke to the thousands congregated at The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) in a message also beamed live to millions more via the church’s broadcast portal, Emmanuel TV.

“Youth and employment is a huge challenge that the world is facing today and we commend the efforts of the man of God Prophet T.B. Joshua, the Synagogue, Church Of All Nations and Emmanuel TV for championing a worldwide initiative on job creation,” Chuma-Mkandawire stated. “This challenge needs the concerted efforts of governments, the private sector, individuals, institutions and faith-based organisations.”

Giving a brief history of the ILO’s aims and activities, Chuma-Mkandawire highlighted that Joshua’s project was in consonance with their vision on skills development and job creation, also lauding his known stand of helping individuals, irrespective of their religious, ethnic or social background.

“My organisation is based on the respect for all people, all religions and all faiths. This is where there is a convergence with what is happening here today and we therefore join the efforts of Prophet T.B. Joshua, Emmanuel TV and all faith based organisations in the promotion and creation of jobs.” Chuma-Mkandawire stated that the first step of the partnership would be to create a website which would provide relevant information for job seekers, linking them to respective job opportunities.

The partnership comes in lieu of Joshua’s call last month on his 50th birthday for job creation to be prioritised in order to avert an impending economic crisis. The ILO whose motto is ‘promoting jobs, protecting people’ said they had been observing Joshua’s charitable endeavours for several years and were delighted to join him in partnership for the mutual benefit of young people seeking employment.

Joshua stated his passion to provide jobs for young people was driven by a vision of an imminent ‘revolution’ amidst the youth if actions were not quickly taken. “Revolution is coming if we do not act now,” Joshua soberly stated to the congregation. “The young ones will take to the streets because the so called legacy of education we give them will not have meaning. Unemployment has made education useless in the sense that the young ones see no meaning in going to school.”

He lamented that education had lost its value. “Each time those in university remember those who made a first class doing what they were not trained to do, it affects their morale. This has affected the value of education; graduates are now struggling with the uneducated for unskilled jobs,” the cleric commented.

A week earlier, Mrs Hannah Ms Hannah Bertillia Acquah, the West African representative for the MBA tour, also publicly commended Joshua’s initiative. The international event organised to link prospective students with top level business administrative educational institutions officially announced their partnership with Emmanuel TV in giving scholarships to enterprising African students, enabling them to study in some of the most prestigious educational institutions worldwide.

According to Nigeria’s Guardian newspaper, the project has already attracted huge national and international interest. “Thousands of organisations around the world have offered to partner with TB Joshua by providing job opportunities for Africans through the initiative. Hundreds of such letters were read at the event, with the organisations stating available vacancies in their establishment,” the newspaper reported on Sunday 30th June 2013.

Stop Risking Your Lives For Unreal Greener Pasture Abroad, Develop Your Country – Briton Tells Nigerian Youths

A member of Volunteer Service Overseas, Mr. Michael Young, a citizen of United Kingdom has charged Nigerian youths to stay in their country to contribute to its development instead of risking their lives searching for unreal greener pasture.

Young, who stated this along his counterpart, Miss Samuel Joy Ben during a press conference in Ilorin to mark the beginning of International Youth Day celebration in collaboration with National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kwara State chapter, said immigrants could make it in their countries without embarking on dangerous journey.

Narrating his experience with Nigerian immigrants in UK, Young disclosed that his contact with a Nigerian man with his family in his country was not palatable.

“I met him in the toilet, he told me he has a wife and children in Nigeria whom he had to cater for. He told me he has to work for 15 hours washing toilets in different places.

“The question is, why can’t they stay in Nigeria? You can’t make it in this country because life in UK is too expensive. Youths can be in Nigeria and contribute to the development of the country”.

The volunteer, who appealed to government to ensure good policies on education, said it is through compulsory education for children between 6 to 18 years that helped UK to reduce poverty and youth unrest.

Young caution Nigerian youths and immigrants to be sure of where they are going if at all they want to travel abroad, stressing that the risk facing foreigners are too challenging.

His counterpart, Miss Ben advised Nigerian youths to change their attitude towards acquisition of money, stressing that there are many ways they could contribute meaningful to the society.

In his reaction, the Chairman of NYCN, Comrade Kazeem Adekanye noted that the main agenda of many youths in Nigeria travelling abroad is to seek greener pasture which lures them into series of problems.

He appealed to Nigerian youths to stay in the country and utilise their skills, talents for the development of the nation, stressing that over 70 million Nigerian youths out of over 150 million Nigerians are enough to build the nation.

Note: I dont blame any Nigerian that is going abroad to look for a better life,  even the Government is not helping at all, they are not encouraging the youths, a country where the rich are getting richer and the poor are stilll getting poorer, A country where the national budget is been shared by some individuals in high places, A country where the "oga s @ the top" dont pay the University lecturers their salaries and this makes millions of aspiring students to stay at home idle and there is a popular saying that says that an idle mind is the devil s workshop . They send their children to the best universities all over the world with the national budget of a country and also spend the country s budget acquiring properties all over the world, flying with their private jets. God help Nigeria. I know that it is going to be better someday.

If  you go to the Uk in the right process, with your visa and everything, you are not going to be like the man used as a case study in this blog, unless you arrived from ships, boats, trucks and all other illegal means

DIVORCE AND THE LONG LASTING EFFECT IT CAN HAVE ON CHILDREN

Before i begin writing any thing about this topic, I would like to ask what is Divorce ??  all definitions are the same, the definition you get from a law court, from a Church or a Mosque, from friends all point towards one direction and that is the legal termination of a marriage between a Husband and the wife.
Divorce can have many negative long lasting effects on children that are gotten from that marriage." When you introduce a child to the world of divorce, you are altering every aspect of their life. That kind of change is hard to adjust to for adults. Imagine what it must be like for children who are not old enough to reason and intellectualize the situation?" (Meyer, 2013).  Long lasting effect of divorce on children  are

IT DAMAGES ALL PART OF THE CHILD`S LIFE

Before  parents divorce, they might have been some hot arguments and in some cases, battering of the wife by the husband and all these are been done in front of the children. The children grow up with the memories of what their dad did to their mum and some might think that the only way to talk to a nagging wife is by battering because of what they saw in their childhood.
In some cases," lengthy legal battles occur , parents often fight over custody of their children and without any doubt, the children`s concept of the world as a safe and reliable environment might be reinterpreted" (Frazee et al,  2004).
Some kids might not even have regards or respect for their parents again, they may not even want to acknowledge that person as their father or mother again in their entire life even when they are married and have their own kids.  According to Meyer(2013),  Children of divorce are more aggressive toward their parents and teachers. They experience more depression, more learning difficulties and problems getting along with their peers. They are three times more likely to be referred for psychological help. They become sexually active earlier, they are more likely to produce children out of wedlock and they are three times as likely to divorce themselves or to never marry.

An advice to all the parents out there or those that are about to divorce, Before you do so, think about your children, you should ask yourself this question, if i were to divorce, what will be the fate of my son or daughter in the future?? will they be able to live a normal life like kids their age and what effect could my action have on them in the future.

The 20 Things You Need To Do In Your 20s

Your twenty-somethings are the prime of your life. You will never be as young as you are right now, and there will never be a better time for you to embrace all that the world has to offer than this age of freedom. Yes, freedom. Forget about the accusations that millenials are lazy, unmotivated and lack drive.

We all have growing dreams, previous accomplishments under our belts and an ever present sense of urgency to achieve exactly what we want. Your 20s aren’t an excuse to give up on dreams and let go of ambitions. Instead, these years are the time to put it in full throttle and hit the ground running to set yourself up for future success and happiness. If you’ve ever doubted yourself, now’s the time to let go of insecurities and uncertainties.

Here are the 20 things you need to do in your 20s:

1. Be you.

Your 20s are the perfect time to find yourself, if you haven’t already. Take some time to be on your own and learn about yourself, and most importantly, learn to love yourself. Be unique! Don’t try to fit the mold and blend in with everyone else. Be sexy; be bold. Make your presence known.

2. Struggle.

Blunt and to the point. Don’t let your struggles define you, but let them happen. Misfortunes make you a better person through the lessons they instill. Troubles will come and go; they are not everlasting. If you’re struggling through tough times, things will only get better.

3. Eat whatever you want.

Screw the diet fads and constant pressure to look like the skinniest models on the runway. Working hard to become healthy and get into shape is one thing, but relax with the strict dieting. Eat whatever you want, and don’t think twice about it. You will not gain ten pounds because you ate that delicious chocolate chip muffin this morning. Food is good. Indulge in a little gluttony sometimes.

4. Date someone completely wrong for you.

Dating is fun! Don’t fear blind dates, or people that don’t fit “your type.” Go out with someone unexpected and see what happens. You could fall in love with that one quality that you never really noticed. You might be surprised at just whom you fall for. Even if you end up turned off and bored with the person, at least you have a funny story to tell.

5. Do something purely for the thrill, and maybe more than once.

Be a thrill seeker; don’t play it safe. The feeling of excitement is fun and enjoyable. Take some risks, and don’t fear the result. Sometimes going out on a limb and diving into a thrill-seeking experience makes for the best memories. You might not get enough and want to do it again. Just remember — depending on the risk you take — everything is best in moderation.

6. Keep moving.

Your 20s are definitely not the time to settle. Keep moving; do not slow down for anyone or anything. When you settle down in a certain relationship or way of living, life becomes stagnant and soon enough, less exciting. Keep moving to keep up with the quality of life that you deserve in your 20s.

7. Travel the world.

There is nothing more rewarding or fulfilling than traveling. Travel the world; explore unfamiliar territory. Soaking up new cultures is one of the best learning experiences, and it opens your eyes to the quality of life in different areas around the world. You might always have time for travel, but there is no better time to explore with all the freedom in the world than in your 20s. Who knows, you might even come across a place that steals your heart away and you’ll never want to leave.

8. Love your parents, thank them and repay them.

Your parents have been the guiding force to your current place in life. Love them for all that they have done for you up to this point because you will hopefully be taking a stronger lead in your life, specifically financially. Thank them for all the times they supported you financially, or personally, despite any poor decisions you may have made in the past.

Most importantly, your parents expect nothing from you in return for all that they have attributed to your growth as an individual, but take it upon yourself to repay them in any way you might see fit.

9. Spend good, quality time with your family.

Your family has been, and will always be, present in your life. Friends and romantic partners may come and go, but blood is forever. Take advantage of your freedom during your 20s to spend some quality time with your family and maybe even get to know them better, now that you’re older and more mature. You will cherish the times with your family when you eventually become the eldest generation.

10. Mend the open wounds.

Let go of the bullsh*t in your past. Look at your 20s as a clean canvas. This is a time to release any negative feelings holding you back from moving forward. Heal any open wounds that remain, and accept that there is sometimes no resolution for certain situations. If there might be a way to mend an open-ended problem, then make the attempt. Do whatever you have to do to feel free of any negative restrictions.

11. Meet a ton of new people.

New people are the spice of life. Everyone is unique in his or her own way and with every person you meet, there is added excitement and flavor in your life. Take it upon yourself to meet as many new people as possible in your 20s. You might meet your future hubby or wifey, or maybe simply start lifelong friendships.

12. Make unforgettable memories.

Your 20s are a time to immerse yourself in as many new experiences as possible. Make unforgettable memories with your friends, old and new. Now is the time to try as many new things as possible. Expand your horizons.

13. Continue to follow your dreams.

After years of deciding what you want to do you with your life, you may still be undecided on what exactly that is. Despite indecision on what career path to choose, your dreams are ever present and more than likely becoming more prominent as you consider where you want to end up in the coming years. Use your 20s to make your dreams a reality. Strive to do all that you can to fulfill your dreams, and always remember that no dream is too big or out of reach.

14. Be a sponge.

Not only are your 20s a good time to get to know yourself, but also a good time to get to know the people around you. Spend quality time with you friends and acquaintances, take an interest in their lives, listen to their opinions and develop genuine relationships that you will remember forever.

15. Pick up a new hobby.

Use your 20s as a time to really get to know yourself and maybe discover some new interests. Explore some new hobbies. Maybe take a few lessons on how to play an instrument, how to paint or how to work a particular computer program. You never know what pastimes you might fall in love with and seek to make something of!

16. Don’t dwell on the negatives.

Downfalls are inevitable. When the negatives outweigh the positives, don’t dwell on it. Remember that life goes on, and you have never been in a better position to remove yourself from negative situations and to move forward than you are right now in your 20s.

17. Give back.

So much of the population on this planet is not as fortunate as you may be. Allow your 20s to be the years that you lend a helping hand to the underprivileged. Whether it be a donation of some sort, or you decide to travel to a poverty-stricken country for six months out of the year, do something to make a difference and give back to the community.

18. Cherish the people who have always been there.

When all is said and done, you will be able to count your most genuine and trusting relationships on one hand. While you’re busy meeting new people and exploring new places during your 20s, don’t forget to cherish the relationships you have with the people who have always been there for you. These are the relationships that deserve the most attention and effort to keep them blooming.

19. Trust only a few.

While trust is a good quality to have, there are only so many people in this world that you can trust with your life, or even with your most precious secrets. You’re going to experience a hell of a lot in your 20s, and you should always be careful who you choose to confide in. In the end, everyone looks out for themselves, and you can’t always be sure who will or won’t look out for you in the meantime.

20. Live in the moment, without fear or expectation of the future.

Above all, live every day of your 20s to the fullest. Relish the moment and make every day worth living. Do not look ahead to the future with worry or expectation, as you could likely set yourself up for disappointment. Live every day to its greatest potential, as if there will be no tomorrow to make it right.
